Although many say watercolour is the most difficult medium, to me, it is the best.
I can control it to the finest, tiny line, then wet it and let it move with great freedom. No other medium gives the clarity or tenderness that can be achieved with watercolour. I can make it very bold and very strong, or apply the softest of washes.
Putting a colour on a wet surface creates beautiful patterns that spread themselves to where ever I want them to go, then I can come back and enhance with utmost control. I can add textures and suggestive lines and marks to say what I need to pass my thoughts and vision to the viewer.
Such a joy for the soul.

COSMOS
Painted for a raffle for the Cancer Council. Colour choice in these circumstances is critical as it has to suit anyone’s decor.
DANDELIONS #2 Donated to a Cancer Council Raffle. In this one I used a blue back ground rather than the brown. I’m not sure which is best.
BEAUTIFUL WHITE In real life this is beautiful. It was a direct response to some terrible things on the news, bombarding us all day, so I painted the softest most gentle things I could. It is not just a pretty painting but my political statement to the world.
JUST JOEY
I loved the colour contrasts and the freedom in parts and the details in others.
DANDELIONS
The masking took a whole day to apply, longer than it took to paint.
